Quotas & tiers
TL;DR: Two separate meters. Analyses are the free daily research — verdict, profit math, market values, recalls, photos — capped per day by your tier. Reports are the paid documents — full verified vehicle history on one VIN — bought in packs or included with a subscription. You can analyze a lot all day without ever spending a report.
Analyses: the daily meter
Every VIN you run — from the extension on a Copart/IAAI page, or by pasting a VIN into the web app — counts as one analysis. An analysis gets you the complete research view: the verdict, profit math, market values, open recalls, and photos.
- Free accounts get 5 analyses a day.
- Pro raises that to 20 a day; Dealer to 50 a day. Plans and current pricing live at /pricing.
- The counter resets daily. Re-opening a lot you already analyzed that day doesn't burn a second analysis — cached lots reload free.
Why a cap exists at all: every analysis pulls live market data on your behalf. The cap keeps the free tier sustainable without watering down what an analysis includes — a free analysis is the same analysis a Dealer account runs.
Reports: the paid meter
A report is the full vehicle history document on one VIN: verified title records, odometer history, total-loss, salvage & theft checks, open recalls, and the complete analysis. One report covers everything — there are no per-section upcharges.
- New accounts get one free report at signup.
- Buy more in packs of 1, 5, 15, or 50 — see /pricing.
- Subscriptions include a monthly allowance of reports on top of the higher daily cap.
A few rules worth knowing:
- Purchased reports never expire. A report you bought in March is still yours to run in December.
- Subscription-included reports reset monthly and don't roll over — use them or they refresh.
- Spend order favors you: included reports are spent before purchased ones, so your purchased balance is touched last.
- Failed lookups are returned. If the history provider doesn't return data for a VIN, the report goes back to your balance automatically. You're never charged for a lookup that didn't deliver.
- Reports you've run collect in your account's Reports section, so you can get back to one without hunting for the VIN.
What never costs anything
- Installing and using the Chrome extension.
- Watchlists, reminders, notes, max bids, and cross-device sync.
- Open NHTSA recall and complaint data on every analysis.
- The sample report — see exactly what a full report contains before spending one.
When to upgrade
The honest answer: when you hit the daily cap more days than you don't. Five analyses a day covers casual scouting; if you're working full auction lists every morning, the cap will tell you before we do. Compare tiers at /pricing.
